It's the first US Battleship that gets an actual powerplant, if you just quickly compare the NM has 37k horsepower, Colorado has 28.9k and NC has 115k, ofcourse Iowa's 212k leaves it in the dust but then again there is not a ship in the game right now with more engine power than the Iowa so it's a bit of a skewed image comparing them directly.Īnyways, the North Carolina is a major improvement over the Colorado in pretty much every single way I can think of. The accuracy on the NC's guns are just as bad as those of the ships around it. On a BB, I value the guns the most and the North Carolina doesn't deliver. Overall, I think the disadvantages of the ship outweigh the advantages. Also, getting to the combat zone faster helps. For the first time, you can decide to pull out of an engagement when you want to. You rarely have to worry about CV attacks unless the CV is Tier 8+Ģ.
The tactic of swinging around, firing a broadside, and swinging back doesn't work anymore.ġ. If you don't want to get citadeled, you're confined to 6 main guns as you have to show your broadside to use the hind guns. I didn't notice the shell dispersion on the Colorado, as it still has good shell velocity, but with the North Carolina, your shells just tend to float in mid air and spread out.ģ. Probably slower than most cruisers, which forces you to lead exceedingly much for a battleship.Ģ.
Three main weaknesses I find to be frustrating:ġ. If WG decides that BB shells should continue over penetrating on a regular basis, that'd really suck for BBs.Īs for North Carolina, I personally didn't like the ship very much, even pre 0.5.1. Right now, BB AP shells do pathetic damage to cruisers, which takes away a lot of the fun in my opinion. Whether playing a BB at all is worth it will depend on how the AP shell fix turns out.
